About Mike, the Blogger

I had 2 strokes (subarachnoid haemorrhage) when I was 32. I lost my speech and was paralysed down the right side of my body. I am now 46 and recovered most movement though I don’t speak so well (according to the folks in the pub!).

Two years ago I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). I've had 3 phases of chemotherapy and countless blood transfusions. I’m in remission now, though blood is removed each week - I have too much iron due to all the transfusions.

However, bad luck aside, I am a happy man and I, along with some good friends, have decided to undertake the physical challenge of the 330 mile bike ride from Land's End to Oxhill to help young stroke survivors less fortunate than myself.
